Any information on 803B cellular horns would be much appreciated, specs, opinions, etc.

Try baxglobal baxsavers for shipping large items. They are not competetive for smaller shipments (except overseas) but for inner-state shipments of larger items they are hard to beat.

Mike the 803B is an exponential 300 cycle 8 cell horn. The 8 refers to the # of cells and the 3 to the cut off frequency. For example the 1005 had 10 cells and a cut off 500 cps. The 803 was used for the theater with 1.4" compression drivers like the 288s and a low frequency enclosure like the 825,210 etc for full range sound. Also was used as a voice announcement type speaker without the LF unit using the band limited 290 series "giant voice" drivers. Although they do comfortably allow a lower cut off freq than 500cps they were often crossed no lower because of the reduced power tolerance of 288s below 500cps. But for home use this should not be a problem. You will likely also find a more limited high freq response from 288s in this 300 cycle horn than in 500 cycle horns and may indeed find a tweeter useful. Worse of all is the fact that they are beyond the size limits of UPS and Fed Ex
and therefore expensive to ship.
